Themed Exhibit “Contact” Canceled.

Had to do it, sorry.  Too few applicants and way too much cost for the venue forced the cancellation of the event.  We will regroup, come up with a new theme and choose a new date. And we’ll likely hold it here at the Angel Fire ArtSpace Gallery venue, where sales and access are easy.

Stay tuned here or to the Facebook page.

Theatre Tonight, Fabulous Guitarists Wednesday and Summer Fest Next Weekend!

It’s a whirlwind of fabulous entertainment, and you can catch it all!  Tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, it’s LIVE Theatre!  We once again partnered with The Space Theatre of Taos and the show is The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard.  Tonight and tomorrow, curtain is at 8pm at the Frog Jelly Art Studio in The Cove Arts Center.  Sunday matinee at 2pm.  Tickets are a modest $12.  Seating is limited so get there early or buy in advance at The Angel Fire ArtSpace Gallery (Centro Plaza, next door to the Chamber of Commerce)  or at the Visitor Center in Frontier Square.  Be sure to say high to Jimmy and Karen if you go there.

Then, on Wednesday, it’s the concert we’ve been waiting for.  Three Fabulous Guitarists will thrill audiences with Classical Spanish Guitar.  Wednesday at 6pm in the Rotunda at the Community Center.  Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and $10 for students.

Be sure to rest up on Thursday, because Friday is the kick off of the SummerFest 2010.  And what a party THAT is going be! Suzanna Choeffel (the sensation of  Angel Fire POWDERKEG) and Dan Dyer will be entertaining us throughout the weekend. There will be vendors on the decks . . . and this year there is no entrance fee associated with SummerFest!

ArtsFest Applications Online NOW!

Ok, so we’re not very good at posting often!  We’ll try hard to do better this year.  In the meantime, the 2010 Angel Fire ArtsFest Applications are NOW online.  Head to the website to get yours!

While you’re there, check out the ArtsFest page to see what’s new!   See you in July!

Next up: Arts About Town!

I apologize for the delay in posting…I lost my wp password in a crash and it took awhile to figure out how to find it.  thanks to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Smn for helping me out!

Anyhoo…..we are now headlong into the waning days of summer Arts About Town!   We have about 20 artists signed up already and are keen for more, so if you haven’t done so yet, click here to get the 1 page easy application.  It is a word document.  Send it in with your check for $25.00 and shabam! you’re IN!

Looks like we’ll have three locations this year:  Inside, at the Inn Center;  Under the Portal at Frontier Square and (hopefully) under the portal at El Centro Plaza.  We won’t do the Cove this year unless we get many more signed up between now and August 30th.

The event will happen on Saturday, September 5th (Labor Day Weekend). Followed  by the Bikes, Blues and Brews party/concert that will happen in a big Tent at the Angel Fire Resort right as Arts About Town closes!

So, art lovers, music lovers and bikers…head to Angel Fire for Labor Day weekend!  Shop from among the artists and craftsman showing at Arts About Town and then enjoy a brew and listen to blues by Rock Bottom Blues band.

See you here, Saturday, September 5th!

Time Marches On…..

Forecasts of doom and gloom waft over the airwaves, but we are un-moved.  Passion for the Arts is our life-blood and nay-sayers voices are quelled when one is enraptured in a painting, a sculpture, in the music or the dance or the make-believe made real in well executed stage play.  For that we will persevere and find ourselves all the more compelled to push harder and higher.

Toward that end, we are up to our eyeballs in plans for the summer and even into the early fall.   Right around the corner, the luminous music of Master guitarist, Daniel Weston will tickle our ears.  On Thursday, April 9th at 7:30, in the lobby of the newly remodeled Angel Fire Resort Hotel.   Join us for only a suggested donation of $10 and experience original compositions and more.

Then we’re off and running toward summer.  Activities in Angel Fire will come in waves…Memorial Weekend, Summer Fest in June as well as Missoula Chilren’s Theatre, and then, before you know it we’re opening the 28th Annual Angel Fire ArtsFest at the Angel Fire Communty Center.  The Premier opens at 6 pm on Friday, the 10th of July. Make sure you come hungry and ready to be dazzled by the fabulous artists that will here this year.  Returning are some of your favorites:  Jennifer Cavan (who won Best of Show last year) will be right up front as you walk in.  So will Jacqui Binford-Bell and those sparkling jewels created by Steve Kriechbaum!  Wandering through you’ll find some new artists and work as well as artists you’ve come to expect to see over the years.  Returning after a 2 year hiatus, are the Schartz’s.  You’ll be stunned at how their Raku has taken on a whole new level of artistic excellence!

We’re still working on what sort of theatre we’ll be showing, but we’ll let you know as soon as we can.  In the meantime, artists, check out the call for Artists for the 2nd Annual Themed Exhibit.  This year, the theme is “Illusions”.  Be sure to get the prospectus here.

The Arts About Town applications will be online soon too.  So, wow,  and ready, set…..ART!
