Next up: Arts About Town!
I apologize for the delay in posting…I lost my wp password in a crash and it took awhile to figure out how to find it. thanks to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Smn for helping me out!
Anyhoo…..we are now headlong into the waning days of summer Arts About Town! We have about 20 artists signed up already and are keen for more, so if you haven’t done so yet, click here to get the 1 page easy application. It is a word document. Send it in with your check for $25.00 and shabam! you’re IN!
Looks like we’ll have three locations this year: Inside, at the Inn Center; Under the Portal at Frontier Square and (hopefully) under the portal at El Centro Plaza. We won’t do the Cove this year unless we get many more signed up between now and August 30th.
The event will happen on Saturday, September 5th (Labor Day Weekend). Followed by the Bikes, Blues and Brews party/concert that will happen in a big Tent at the Angel Fire Resort right as Arts About Town closes!
So, art lovers, music lovers and bikers…head to Angel Fire for Labor Day weekend! Shop from among the artists and craftsman showing at Arts About Town and then enjoy a brew and listen to blues by Rock Bottom Blues band.
See you here, Saturday, September 5th!
In High Gear for Summer Arts
It’s gonna be a great summer…though I’ve no doubt busy will be an understatement. We are now in high gear, headed toward ArtsFest, our premier event. Before we get there though, Missuoula Children’s Theatre is first up on the Arts Calendar for Summer Arts. This year the National Touring Company will razzle dazzle with “Robinson Crusoe”. Kids will line up bright an early on June 22nd…registration opens at 9 am. Make sure you get to the Angel Fire Community Center on time….as this popular program is still free to the participants. It’s a really big deal. The same program can cost upwards of $100 per child for the week….but the MVAC underwrites the program.
Once we’re done with that it’s high speed to ArtsFest. We’ve already placed ads in Accent West magazine and Oklahoma magazine. We’re working on one for High Country and I think we’re done with Enchantment. We’re going to be pushing it on radio and in newspapers too.
Remember that the Premier event is our fundraiser for our youth arts education programs. Tickets are $25 for the party which kicks off the show at 6 pm on July 10.
New this year is that the Resort is offering packages which give you $5 off the ticket and discounted room as well. So after taking in the fine art (including all the winners), enjoying the live music and myriad of tasty treats, head to the newly remodeled hotel and relax. You can re-enter the show on Saturday free, with your Premier ticket. When you’re done shopping and hobnobbing with the artists and patrons, take in a round of golf, go for a hike or horseback ride and enjoy the high mountain air of Angel Fire. Call 800-633-PINE to reserve, and mention “ArtsFest Premier” to get the special pricing. Exhibiting Artists, call and mention “ArtsFest Artist” to get special pricing without the premier ticket (since you get one in your packet!)
Following ArtsFest, we’ll go right into the Children’s Theatre Workshops from AFMT (click here for more). Then before we know it we’ll be welcoming the musicians and fans of Music From Angel Fire as they open their 26th Season of Internationally acclaimed Chamber Music. (click here for more.)
Then before we’re even done with that the increasingly popular one day event, Arts About Town will treat visitors and residents to new arts and crafts. This year, we’re moving it all to the Inn Center..inside, outside, front and back. We’re doing so to make it easier for our customers to find the exhibitors and enjoy the event without driving around town.
On September 11, 12 and 13 we’ll host our 2nd annual themed exhibit. The theme this year: Illusions. The prospectus is available here. There will be cash prizes and a reception on September 12. All the fun will be at the Community Room of the First National Bank of New Mexico.
Quite a schedule, huh?
So, head to Angel Fire for a summer of fun and Art! And if you want to volunteer to help with one or more of these events, please click here!
